ADVENT LECTIO DIVINA SERIES

How is God calling me?

take time this advent to listen

Thursdays at lunch hour, Nov. 26 – Dec. 17, 2020
12:15 p.m. – 1 p.m. EST

How is God calling me?

God calls me by my name, and sends me in His Name.

In light of what we heard from Archbishop Paul-André Durocher on November 21, 2020, let’s continue the dialogue together.

This Advent season, consider taking some time to recognize the different ways God is calling you. Join us virtually for the next four Thursdays, as part of your lunch break, as we revisit the journeys of four otherwise ordinary people from the bible, and their extraordinary responses to God’s call.

Let’s pause amid the uncertainty and busy-ness of this season, to listen to how God called them and recall how they answered. May we also be open to His voice and hear Him speaking to us in our lives today, so we may come to understand what He is calling us to do for the greater mission of the Body of Christ, in our families, our community, our ministry and our work.

There will be time dedicated for sharing and praying together.

These sessions will be recorded and for your comfort, the sharing segment will be excluded from the recording.

What is Lectio Divina?

Have you ever received a homemade gift or a hand-written letter from a friend or loved one?

Likely, yes.

And if you did, chances are, you took your time to admire all the handcrafted details, or to savour the homemade treat, or reread the loving message slowly. Similarly, Lectio Divina is akin to thoroughly taking in a loving gift and message from God. Through this practice of prayer with simplicity and freedom, our hearts are gently awakened and cultivated to hear God’s voice more clearly in the silence of our hearts.

Be still, and know that I am God” – Psalm 46:10a
