What is
The Chosen?
The Chosen is the first multi-season television drama depicting the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of those who encountered Him. Created by Dallas Jenkins and originally distributed through Angel Studios, The Chosen now releases new seasons through its own The Chosen App and partner streaming services. This shift keeps the series freely accessible to viewers worldwide while expanding its reach across multiple platforms. has grown to become the largest crowdfunded TV series of all time.
Through powerful storytelling and authentic human portrayals, The Chosen invites viewers to experience the Gospel in a fresh and relatable way. Each episode draws us into the world of Jesus and the people who walked beside Him — His disciples, His mother Mary, those He healed and taught, and even those who opposed Him.
While remaining faithful to the spirit of Scripture, the series imaginatively situates familiar Gospel moments within the rhythms of daily life in first-century Galilee. This creative lens helps us ask anew: What was it like to encounter Jesus? How did His presence transform ordinary lives?
All seasons of The Chosen, including the newly released Season Five, are available to watch for free online.
A synodal journey: embracing community
Five Years of Walking Together:
A Community Formed by Encounter
Since Advent 2021, our online community — across parishes, homes and workplaces — has embarked on a shared pilgrimage alongside the characters of The Chosen. In Seasons One through Four we walked together: listening attentively to one another, discerning how this Christ-centred narrative invites us to live missionally in our families, our workplaces, our neighbourhoods and our parish communities.
Inspired by the call of synodality — “walking together” in faith, hope and service — we have sought to live these principles locally through conversation, communal prayer, and concrete action. Our reflections contributed to the diocesan Synodal Report and helped shape our diocesan assembly on 11 June 2022, and thereafter our contribution to the Assembly of Quebec Bishops.
Living the Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope Today
As the global synodal process continues to unfold, the invitation remains: to listen, to discern, and to walk forward in communion and mission. In this Jubilee Year 2025 — Pilgrims of Hope — we are especially called to renew our sense of belonging and purpose as a Church on the move, grounded in Christ’s mercy and joy.
What kind of Church are we being called to be?
As we prepare now to enter Season Five, this Advent we invite the full breadth of our local church — newcomers, previous participants and parish teams —to join us in this next chapter. Together, we will explore the themes of radical love and compassion, inclusivity, trust in God’s timing, prayer and intimacy with God, faith over fear, and finding joy in suffering,
These values speak directly to our lives as disciples in this place — in our homes, parishes, and workplaces — as we prepare our hearts for Advent and embrace our call to be pilgrims of hope in today’s world.
Continue the journey…
“For me, it was living out liturgy … I try to best replicate a level of authenticity for those scenes based on my experience of the liturgy.”

Stepping into Holy Week
The first episodes draw us into the final days leading to the cross. We witness Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, His cleansing of the temple, and His intimate moments of teaching with the disciples. These stories invite us to enter Holy Week imaginatively, noticing how Christ’s presence transforms ordinary moments and calls each of us to faithful response.
Called to Be Pilgrims of Hope
Just as the disciples navigated confusion, fear, and uncertainty, we too are invited this Advent to consider our own calling. What does it mean to be a pilgrim of hope? To bring hope and courage into places that feel silent or broken? To witness and live out God’s presence amid moments of doubt and struggle? These episodes encourage us to notice, engage, and respond, discerning how Christ’s call is alive in our world today.
Preparing Our Hearts for Advent
Advent calls us to attentiveness and expectation, inviting us to slow down and watch for God at work in the ordinary and extraordinary moments of daily life. As we follow these first episodes, we are challenged to open our hearts, welcome Christ’s light, and carry it outward — bringing hope, courage, and love into our everyday encounters.
Whether attending one session or all, experience this Advent as a time to encoutner Jesus in a living, transformative way.
