Notre histoire<\/h1>\n

<\/h1>\n

Le Service d\u2019accompagnement spirituel aupr\u00e8s des malades et des personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es \u00e0 domicile (SASMAD) a pris naissance dans le c\u0153ur de s\u0153ur Madeleine Saint-Michel, religieuse H<\/span>ospitali\u00e8re de Saint-Joseph.\u00a0<\/span>S\u0153ur St-Michel, travaillait comme responsable d\u2019un service de soins palliatifs \u00e0 domicile. Consciente que les soins \u00e0 apporter au corps demandent beaucoup de temps et d\u2019\u00e9nergie, elle \u00e9tait convaincue qu\u2019il ne fallait pas faire l\u2019\u00e9conomie de la dimension spirituelle de l\u2019\u00eatre, dans une approche vraiment globale des soins. Voulant donner une r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 ce besoin fondamental de la personne, elle s\u2019est jointe au personnel de l\u2019Archev\u00each\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al pour y implanter un Service dioc\u00e9sain, \u00e0 domicile, dont l\u2019accent serait mis sur l\u2019accompagnement spirituel des personnes malades et des personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es visit\u00e9es.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

S\u0153ur Madeleine St-Michel, notre fondatrice<\/span><\/h2>\n

Infirmi\u00e8re dans l\u2019\u00e2me, s\u0153ur Madeleine fit ses \u00e9tudes d\u2019infirmi\u00e8re \u00e0 l\u2019H\u00f4tel-Dieu de Montr\u00e9al puis devint religieuse Hospitali\u00e8re de St-Joseph, une communaut\u00e9 qui se consacre particuli\u00e8rement aux pauvres et aux malades pour les servir dans la tendresse et la compassion. D\u00e8s 1676, la communaut\u00e9 des R.H.S.J. (Religieuses hospitali\u00e8res de Saint-Joseph), en plus des soins de sant\u00e9 et infirmiers, a administr\u00e9 les biens de l\u2019h\u00f4pital H\u00f4tel-Dieu, situ\u00e9 au centre de la m\u00e9tropole, aux pieds du flan Est du Mont-Royal. Rappelons-nous que le premier H\u00f4tel-Dieu fut construit par Jeanne-Mance en 1644, d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but de la colonie, qu\u2019il fut agrandi et reconstruit apr\u00e8s trois incendies majeurs et qu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 le seul h\u00f4pital de Montr\u00e9al jusqu\u2019en 1822.<\/span><\/p>\n

On pourrait dire que le SASMAD est une \u0153uvre prot\u00e9g\u00e9e par de nombreux saintes et saints catholiques, par Saint-Joseph, Sainte-Anne et par le saint fr\u00e8re Andr\u00e9 ou par d\u2019autres thaumaturges du Qu\u00e9bec ou d\u2019ailleurs. Mais il est certain que deux saints ont eu une influence historique r\u00e9elle sur la fondation et la mission du SASMAD dans l\u2019archidioc\u00e8se catholique \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. Il s\u2019agit de Jeanne Mance, la premi\u00e8re infirmi\u00e8re \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al et de Saint-Jude, du nom de la premi\u00e8re paroisse sur l\u2019\u00cele de Montr\u00e9al qui a offert le service d\u2019accompagnement spirituel aux personnes malades et \u00e2g\u00e9es \u00e0 domicile.<\/span><\/p>\n
